Day 6 - Roll in day

Date

Woke up to a very nice morning at Menindee Lakes. Had a quick breakfast and then tried to drive out of the soft sand where we had parked the night before.

Unfortunately we weren't successful so had to drop all tyre pressures to 20psi, which made a huge difference as we got out first try. Whilst pumping up the tyres, the compressor decided to melt the plastic fill pipe and lose all pressure. A quick fix got it working again and we got the last tyre pumped up.

We received a message from MMB that 3 day early entry was opening a day earlier (Sunday) due to expected rain tomorrow, so we decided to head to the site early.

Into Broken Hill for some last minute supplies and lunch at Bells Milk Bar before hitting the road to Silverton and the Bash site. We got into the queue at 215pm, but it wasn't until 430pm that we actually made it through the front gates. Another hour or so crawling through the site until we got allocated a camp spot.

It took about an hour or so to setup, as we zipped all of the awning walls onto the shelter. Thankfully Leanne had made a silverside in the Dreampot for dinner so we were able to eat as soon as we were setup.

Camped next to a couple from Melbourne, Brad and Sonya, and we decided to setup a communal fire on our site as we have more space. Spent the evening chatting around the fire until about 1045pm.

Tomorrow will be a day of adjusting our setup when we can actually see what we are doing.
