Day 4 - Overland Corner SA to Woomera

Date:
Monday, June 24, 2024

We left Overland Corner around 9am today and had another big day of driving planned. Our goal was to get to Woomera today, via Alligator Gorge and Horrocks Pass. There was a lot of roadworks on the highway today, which slowed us down considerably, so we decided that we would forgo Alligator Gorge, and head a more direct way to Woomera.

We stopped for lunch at Port Augusta, where we bought a cooked chicken and breadrolls to eat in the park for lunch, and some steak and veggies for dinner. On to Woomera after lunch, where we arrived at the Woomera Caravan Park around 430pm. Booked an unpowered site, and ended up showing the camper to an elderly couple who wandered over for a look. This caravan park even has their own bar, so before dinner, we stopped in and had a quick drink.

We drove 530km today and the top temperature was 16 degrees. We also had some light rain today, but it didn't last for very long.

Tomorrow, before we leave for Coober Pedy, we are going for a bit of a walk around town, and also check out the Missile Park (again).
