Today was a sleep in day as we would be waiting for the flatbed tow truck to arrive late this afternoon. We had a leisurely breakfast of bacon and toad in the hole. Rod the nurse came around this morning to see how we were going and if we had been able to arrange recovery for us and the car. We chatted for about 10 minutes or so and he told us a bit about himself and the work he does here in the community.

After he left, we did some washing and then packed our clothes and some food and other stuff from the camper into some bags, which we could easily grab when we got back to Alice Springs and take to our accommodation for the next few days.

One of the local rangers named Ben was staying in the staff accommodation where we were so we chatted a bit with him throughout the day. He asked to borrow our air compressor to pump up a flat tire on his ute, as his compressor wasn't working.

During the day, I took the opportunity to copy photos to the laptop, and also do some blog updates. Later in the afternoon, Ranger Des arrived and came over for a chat to see how we were doing. We had met Des a few days previously at Well 33, and he was the one who had advised us on road conditions for the trip back to Alice Springs.

Around 4pm, our tow truck driver Al arrived. He had left Alice around 530am this morning, and driven through to get to us. Unfortunately his GPS sent him on a couple of out of the way tracks which were incorrect. These detours had delayed him by about an hour. We made a roast beef and veggies for dinner and as Al hadn't eaten much during the day on his drive out, we offered him to eat with us.

Early to bed tonight, as we have a 430am start tomorrow morning.
