Day 22 - R.I.P GoPro

A later start today, as Wylie was still putting bits of his car back together after last night's mammoth repair effort. He took the car for a bit of a drive to see how it felt, before we left Georgia Bore and hit the corrugations, yet again. It was around 9am when we left the campsite and headed for the Parnngurr Community, to fill up fuel and top up supplies at the Community store before it closed at 11am. We made it with about 10 minutes to spare.

Instead of the estimated 1 hour, it took us nearly 2 hours to drive the 80km as one of our convoy decided that the best speed for his car over the corrugations was around 30km an hour, instead of the 70 to 80km an hour that the rest of us were doing. Consequently, we had to stop a few times to let him catch up to the rest of the convoy.

Somewhere along the Talawana track, before we turned off to the Community, I discovered that we had lost our GoPro camera from the front of the car. The mounting had broken and sheared off, due to all of the corrugations. Not only did we lose the camera, but also about 2 days worth of footage which hadn't been downloaded yet. :(

When we arrived at the Community, there were cars and people everywhere, as it was the last day of a 5 day football carnival. It took a while to fuel up and then the queues in the store to pay took about another 20 minutes, as it was so full of people.

From the Community, it was only about another 40 minutes down the road to our overnight campsite, a nice flat partly grassy area, on the road to Rudall River National Park. We arrived here around 1230pm, and setup camp nice an early. Some of the group went off to collect firewood for the next few days, and I decided it was time to sit down and catch up on the blog posts we hadn't done for the last few day.
