Day 54 - Cobb & Co
Left the campsite early this morning for the 30km drive into Longreach so we could go on our stagecoach ride. We stopped at the bakery to grab something for breakfast. They had so much to choose from. It is a great little bakery.
We then went to check in for our tour and were given the itinerary for the morning. We started with a morning tea of fresh baked scones with jam and cream, and your choice of coffee or tea. Then we were taken out back to the stagecoach area and told the procedures before riding. We then all had a photo with their beautiful old blue heeler called Buck, before climbing into the stagecoach.
The coaches can carry 12 passengers each, so we had 2 coaches on our tour. We headed off down the main street of Longreach, with the driver giving us a commentary about Longreach and also the history of Cobb & Co. After about 20 minutes, we turned around and started heading back to town. On the way, they got the horses up into a gallop, and told us we were going about 45km an hour. This was impressive but very loud and bumpy inside the coach.
When we got back, it was time for a bit of a comedy entertainment show in the horse yard. We had pre-ordered a Billy can lunch, which consisted of a corned beef and cheese sandwich, a drink, a piece of fruit and a fresh baked biscuit. We ate whilst watching the show. It was full of dad jokes and was quite funny ( or at least Michael thought so). Finally, we got to watch an old Australian movie, "Smiley gets a gun". It was OK, but probably not really necessary as part of the stagecoach experience.
Before heading back to camp, we stopped at the bakery again and then went and bought some bait prawns for Arthur's fishing.
