Day 46 - Lots to see today
Last night was a beautiful warm night so we slept with all the windows open. Lots of people came and camped but it was a large free roadside rest area.
This morning we realised that we had missed the UFO centre just before Devils Marbles so we are heading back to visit it. Apparently it is abandoned but still might be interesting to see. (It's only a 15 minute / 30km detour). It was very interesting - a mural painted in 2019 shows that it hasn't been abandoned long.
We visited the Devils Marbles and Leanne managed a climb to the top. We also went to the Tennant Creek Overland Telegraph Station. Wow this would have been remote living. It's the middle of winter and 30 degrees. They even had a small cemetery out here.
After doing a few hikes (meanders really) we were very hot, so decided to stay overnight at Threeways Roadhouse so we could have showers. They have a small pub and restaurant here also so we had dinner out. We both had bangers and mash and it was a huge serving and very tasty.
Overnight it was incredibly windy - 30 km/hr winds. Just as well we hadn't put our awning up.
